Everything below is the real element, configured in Breakdance. Try it with your keyboard, zoom in, or open the page on your phone.
What is removed
Every switch can be turned on or off in the settings. Version query strings stay in the admin, so the settings page never runs on a stale cache.
| Feature | What it does | Why remove it |
|---|---|---|
| Emojis | Script and styles that turn text into emoji images | Every modern system renders emojis itself |
| Embeds | oEmbed discovery and the embed script | Breakdance renders embeds itself |
| XML-RPC | Remote publishing endpoint | A common target for brute force attacks |
| Dashicons | Admin icon font on the frontend | Only needed for the admin bar |
| Query strings | ?ver= on CSS and JS files | Better caching on proxies and CDNs |
| Pingbacks | Notifications between blogs | Spam magnet with little use today |
| Comment IPs | IP addresses stored with comments | Data you do not need to keep |
