Live demo
See it in action
Everything below is the real element, configured in Breakdance. Try it with your keyboard, zoom in, or open the page on your phone.
Variant 1
Stars, rating and review count
The live rating of a real place, the Apple Store in Hamburg, used purely as an example. We are not affiliated with it. The link opens the place on Google Maps.
Variant 2
Custom icon and accent color
Any icon from the Breakdance icon library can replace the stars, here a stroke icon from Lucide in the brand color, without the review count.
How it works
The browser never talks to Google
The rating is requested and cached by your WordPress site. Visitors only receive plain HTML.
01
Visitor opens the page
The browser asks only your server. No Google script, no cookie, no IP address sent to Google.
02
Your server answers from cache
The rating is cached for the time you set (12 hours by default). Most page views never trigger a request.
03
Cache expires
Your server asks the Places API once, for a place ID that is used on your site. Unknown IDs are rejected and rate limited.
